LEADERSHIP: BURN THOSE CENTREFOLDS

Create your own leadership plan tailored to your own challenges and people
Ignore the pin-ups and preachers - and their jargon

Jack Welch, Carly Fiorina, Warren Buffett!  These are the centrefold players, big-ticket stars, the leadership fashion models.  We read their names in leadership articles.  Why?  Big names sell subscriptions.  But, the Fortune 500 companies employ just 500 chief executives.  So, what about the rest of us, with names like yours and mine, that most people never hear?

We contribute as leaders and managers deep inside an organisation; or in smaller companies, many of them private.  Or, in government agencies or non-profits.  We aren't going to be invited to speak alongside Jack, Carly, Warren or that guy Bill.  We aren't leadership pin-ups - and some of us aren't even Americans!

We may also operate at levels or in companies (or countries) cut off from executive training or coaching.  We may be too busy (delivering services or making and shipping products) to read articles on leadership - or much else.  And, would we understand the jargon?  Level-5 Leadership, Six Sigma, the Seven Ss or the umpteen something else.  Even if we did, could we put it to use quickly and cheaply?

We may be the only leader in our small business or department.  Small, yes, but there are millions of us across the globe.  So, who the hell is going to help us sharpen our leadership?  Help us prioritise between finishing that proposal and training the new staff?  Setting next years budget and visiting that troublesome customer?  And, even then, what’s my best leadership contribution in each area?

If you really want to know, here's how!
